Tern Vektron Gen 4
Prices from: £3,500
From: £77.29 per month
(For 24 months with Cycle to Work)
The fourth-generation Tern Vektron folds in 10 seconds and rides like a full-size e-bike. Bosch smart system, 27kg rack, and a belt-drive option.
The Vektron has always been the folding e-bike for people who refuse to compromise, and the fourth generation sharpens the formula. A redesigned frame, Bosch’s smart system with 75Nm of torque, and – for the first time – a belt-drive option with hub gears. It still folds in 10 seconds, still carries 27kg on its rack, and still rides like a proper bike.
We have both models in the shop as demo bikes, so you can try them back to back before deciding.
Who is this bike for?
The Vektron is perfect if you:
- Mix cycling with public transport – Folds in 10 seconds for trains and buses, then rolls along on its rack like a trolley
- Store your bike indoors – Fits in cupboards, hallways and under desks, and the battery charges from a normal socket
- Want proper e-bike performance – A full-power Bosch Performance Line motor, not a lightweight compromise
- Carry more than just yourself – 27kg rear rack capacity with Tern’s quick-fit bags and baskets
- Share with different riders – Fits riders from 4’10“ to 6’5“ (147–195cm) with tool-free stem and seatpost adjustment
Everything at a glance
- Folds in 10 seconds, rolls when folded
- Bosch Performance Line motor (75Nm) with the smart system and eBike Flow app

- Bosch Purion 200 display
- Magura MT4 hydraulic disc brakes
- 27kg Atlas V rear rack
- 190-lumen front light and integrated rear light
- Fits riders 4’10“–6’5“ (147–195cm)
- Fits on a train luggage rack, in a car boot, or under a desk
- 10-year frame warranty with Tern Care registration
Choose your configuration
- Vektron P10 – Shimano Deore 10-speed with a wide gear range. The lighter of the two at 22.2kg, and the wider spread of gears is the one we’d point most people towards around here – it climbs better when the road tilts up
- Vektron P5i – Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub gear with a Gates carbon belt. No oil, no derailleur to knock while folding, and barely any maintenance – ideal if the bike lives in a hallway or comes on the train every day
The honest trade-off: the P5i’s hub and belt cost £300 more, add about 1.4kg, and give a narrower gear range than the P10’s derailleur. If your rides are flat and frequent, the P5i’s cleanliness wins. If you’re tackling proper hills, take the P10.

The folder that rides like a bike
Most folding bikes make compromises – the Vektron doesn’t. It has the motor, battery, and components you’d expect from a full-size e-bike, packaged into something that fits in a train luggage rack. At 22.2kg it’s no featherweight, but you rarely need to carry it: fold it and it rolls along on its rack wheels. If you’ve dismissed folders as toys, this one demands reconsideration.

Customer reviews
After thinking about buying an electric bike for a few weeks I arranged a test drive with Jack for a Saturday morning. his service and knowledge was excellent. He was patient with my questions and gave me as much time as I needed. I bought the bike I’d gone there to try and have no hesitation in recommending Jack/E-Radicals.
I can’t thank Jack enough for his level of expertise in helping me purchase an e-bike. He really went above and beyond in promptly sourcing a bike from Tern, and hand delivered the bike to me. I highly recommend Jack and E-Radicals, a great business and a thoroughly nice chap!
