Riese & Müller’s original concept: a folding bike without compromise

A sunset coastal scene with a man and his Birdy folding bike.

It all started with a folding bike

Riese & Müller’s first ever bike remains perhaps its most iconic. The Birdy came about in the early 1990s when two German engineering students decided to go about designing a folding bike. They wanted something that folded to the smallest possible size, while retaining the geometry of a tourer. The Birdy was born, quickly followed by the formal partnership of “Riese und Müller”, and they haven’t looked back since.
