ABUS HYP-E ACE
The ACE sits in the sweet spot of ABUS’s HYP-E range. You get the full integrated lighting and indicator system from the base HYP-E, plus a magnetic visor and ear pads included in the box – the two accessories most riders end up wanting anyway.
Why this helmet?
The ACE is for riders who want weather protection on top of visibility. The magnetic clear visor clips into the built-in MagneticHub, folds up when you don’t need it, and can be swapped for smoke or photochromic versions separately. The ear pads clip on and off easily, turning a summer helmet into a year-round one.
Underneath, you get the same lighting system as the rest of the HYP-E range: integrated front and rear lights, wireless indicators controlled from a handlebar-mounted remote, and six light modes – steady, power, flow, pulse, flash and eco. Battery life is at least two hours continuous or over 40 hours in flash mode, charged via USB-C in around four hours.
Like all HYP-E helmets, the ACE is NTA 8776 certified – tested at higher impact speeds than standard helmets, with better coverage at the back of the head and temples. Exactly the kind of protection that makes sense at e-bike speeds.

Upgrade options
The only thing the ACE doesn’t include from the top-spec BL.ACE is the brake lever remote. That’s available separately and adds automatic brake light activation when you slow down.

Sizes overlap, so if you’re between two, try both. The Zoom Spin dial gives a good range of adjustment within each size.
Three colours
Available in Gleam Silver, Volcano Titan and Signal Yellow. The silver and titan are understated enough for everyday wear; the yellow is for riders who want maximum visibility on top of the lighting system.
