I first became aware of cargo bikes via a friend and former colleague who lives in Aberdeen and who spoke about how great they are for transporting young children. But my real fascination with them began when I saw how they were being used for logistics in cities like Manchester and London.
One thing led to another, and I ended up buying this Cube cargo bike. It has been through a lot since I first took ownership of it, including someone stealing it and dumping in the River Lune! Fortunately I was able to recover it thanks to help from a friendly stranger. Remarkably the Bosch electronics somehow survived that!
Eventually I sold it to Single Step Wholefoods so they could continue doing the veg box deliveries I had started doing with them. Now it’s in my e-bike and electric cargo bike shop for a service, and it feels as though things have gone full circle.
I’m only too happy to be able to give the old girl a bit of TLC.
