E-Radicals: the story so far

E-Radicals is a specialist electric bike shop based in Lancaster, Lancashire, and one of the only electric bicycle and electric cargo bike specialists in the North West of England. Our goal is to help people replace short car journeys with happier, healthier trips by electric bike instead.

The shop was established in late 2023 as an official exclusive Riese & Müller dealer. Riese & Müller, based near Frankfurt in Germany, are widely renowned for manufacturing some of the best electric bikes on the market.

We’ve subsequently added bikes from Royal Dutch Gazelle and Tern to our range. Gazelle has been manufacturing bikes in the Netherlands for over 130 years and offer an unrivalled combination of quality, comfort and value. Tern is a pioneering Taiwanese bicycle manufacturer and has set new standards for the capability of long tail cargo bikes. Alongside these brands, the shop will be adding a few more select complementary e-bike brands during the coming year.

Practical e-bikes for busy people and families

The main focus of the shop is on practical e-bikes that emphasise function and utility. Much of the cycling industry in the UK is centred around cycling as a sport, but bikes are an excellent form of transport. And the recent developments in electric bike technology mean they’re now capable of doing things that many of us may never have thought possible, taking cars and vans off the road in the process.

Electric cargo bikes for businesses and deliveries

E-Radicals was created by Jack Lenox. Jack became an electric cargo bike enthusiast after seeing how they were being used to replace car and van trips in the UK’s big cities. During the height of the pandemic lockdowns, Jack set up an electric cargo bike delivery service in Lancaster where he lives. He couldn’t believe how much quicker he could get around the city carrying substantial loads on a cargo bike.

In doing this, he realised that Lancashire and its surrounding area really needed a specialist electric bike shop that would sell and service a range of e-bikes, including cargo bikes. He also discovered the incredible Riese & Müller Load 75 cargo bike, and has been riding one as his faithful car replacement for almost two years.

It has been a while in the making, but after deciding to go ahead with it at the start of 2023, he started laying the foundations and trained as a bike mechanic.

Jack’s very grateful for all the support the shop has received so far, and hopes E-Radicals will serve the e-bike needs of Lancashire and the North West of England for many years to come!
